2007 year in review

Let's try to do a brief catch up...

In early May I injured my achilles tendon and was advised by my doctor not to run the Soldier Field 10 miler. I had completed seven of the ten weeks of training with Chicago Endurance Sports. I was disappointed I couldn't run the race and a bit depressed that I couldn't run for over a month. Determination builds when you have a set back. It certainly happened here.

In early April I had signed up to run the Chicago Distance Classic Half Marathon. In June I began training for it, a bit behind, but I wanted to build my strength and endurance back up to before the injury. I had to trim a few weeks out of the online training program in order to get the right amount of long runs in before the race, but, on August 12th, I did it in 2:31:52.

The Distance Classic was a good race, but hot and tough at the end. At mile 10 Chris and I discussed signing up for the Chicago Marathon in 2008 among other discussions. I took a week off of running, but by week 2 post half, I was signed up to run another in Indy on October 20th.

Training for the Indy Half was easier. I had a routine established from the Distance Classic Training. I knew what I needed to do. The weather was on my side in September and October. I talked Mary Beth into running it with me. On October 20th I finished 2:26:55. Four minutes ahead of my CDC time.

October and November were mild in Chicago and I kept my mileage up, not resting after the Indy Half.

On Thanksgiving Day I ran the Turkey Trot with Tim, getting a tie for my PR in the 8K distance 48:22.

And that, my friends, was 2007
